The Belle Époque Today: The Art of William Bowyer, RA

Crab Fishermen at Walberswick
Inspired by great English landscape painters like J.M.W. Turner and Constable, William Bowyer demonstrates a bold use of color and a grandeur of composition that at once speaks of the traditional and the contemporary. A member of the Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters and, New English Art Club, Bowyer studied at Burslem School of Art and the Royal College of Art, London.

One of an artistic family, Bowyer’s style is grand, yet intimate. His work exudes motion and seems to have its own light. The vivacity of his work comes from the subject matter—drawn from his own life. His passion for his art is clearly defined in every strong brushstroke. I’d recommend taking a look at the Web site he shared with other members of his family. You’ll be thrilled with what you find.
