Object of the Day, Caption Contest: A French Trade Card for Coffee, The First Architect

I’m not even going to pretend that I know what this French trade card is saying. I can deduce that it’s advertising coffee. I’m not even going to type out the copy for you because, frankly, there are too many accents, etc.

However, the front of the card is quite interesting. It shows an image of a fur-wearing wild man purporting to be “The First Architect.”

There’s much that’s inherently wrong about this. So, let’s have a caption contest. You know how it works—answers in the comments section, please.

OK, now I know we're just cavemen . But this can really work. Start roasting the coffee beans and I'll start building the Starbucks . I know this thing is going to catch on.

"Billy the Stick" was actually the deranged son of a good coffee family who tried to cover up his weird habit of lining trees with lean-to's of sticks and sheep wool by commissioning this ad glamorizing him as the First Architect. When he took to walking around with a bowl on his head, they published one called "The First Soldier."

On so until "The First Lady" at which point Billy joined the French government.
